Reports To: Assistant Director of Cross Systems Integration, Children’s Specialty Healthcare
Position Summary: The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute (Meadows Institute) seeks a collaborative and organized person to serve as a Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will support the work of the Children’s Specialty Healthcare Team. Their research will focus on youth and young adults with developmental disabilities and mental health concerns.
The preferred work location for this position is in Texas. This position may not be filled or performed in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Rhode Island, or Washington at this time. Some duties may require access to reliable personal transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize research articles and online resources related to developmental disabilities and mental health.
- Organize research in a spreadsheet.
- Provide feedback on presentations developed by other Meadows Institute staff.
- Participate in project meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to navigate research databases to find relevant articles and then summarize and synthesize relevant key findings.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues in a remote environment.
- Capacity to think strategically, critically, and respond analytically.
- Participated in a post-secondary program (18+ program, course at a college or university). No degree or certifications required.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Lived experience with a developmental disability or a family member with a developmental disability and mental health challenge.
- A former student in the K-12 public education system in Texas.
- Participated in a post-secondary program (18+ program, course at a college or university).
- Experience conducting literature reviews or general research experience.
- Personal and/or professional knowledge of the K-12 education system, post-secondary education, and/or the mental health crisis system in Texas.
Eligibility Requirements:
- The preferred work location for this position is in Texas. This position may not be filled or performed in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Rhode Island, or Washington at this time. Relocation assistance not available. Successful candidates must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
