Addressing Childhood Trauma and Grief to Promote Child and Family Resilience

The Meadows Institute is continuing our 2021 Speaker Series with our fifth webinar event on Addressing Childhood Trauma and Grief to Promote Child and Family Resilience.

Join us for this important discussion on August 18 with Julie Kaplow, PhD, ABPP, Executive Director of the Trauma and Grief Center at The Hackett Center for Mental Health.

In the wake of COVID-19 and with the start of the school year on the horizon, Dr. Kaplow will discuss what trauma and grief reactions look like in children and youth and how it impacts learning and behavior. She will also address the disproportionate impact COVID-19 has had on marginalized children and youth and what this means for educators and providers who are focused on addressing the unmet needs of the most vulnerable in our communities. During this session, Dr. Kaplow will provide guidance to educators, youth-serving organizations, and caregivers about ways to create supportive environments and prepare for school reentry.

ABOUT THE 2021 SPEAKER SERIES

Implementing Evidence-Based Practices for Children, Youth, & Families

Throughout 2021, the Meadows Institute will welcome experts in implementation science, evidence-based practices, health equity, financing, and more to help Texas mental health providers deepen their understanding of how to roll-out and sustain best practices in mental health.

While many of these principles can be applied to a broad population, we will focus on evidence-based practice implementation efforts targeting children, youth, and their families. If you’ve ever wondered what makes some initiatives take hold and others slowly fade away, you’ll want to mark your calendar for these events.

Information on both upcoming and past events is available on the series project page. See our Events page for details and registration of upcoming events.
