One of the greatest unmet challenges of the last decade has been to deploy effective addiction treatment, and COVID has accelerated these systemic failures, contributing to a one-third jump in deaths from overdose in the last year. Even more than mental health, addiction treatment is generally fragmented from general health care settings, making it difficult to access, expensive to obtain, and ultimately costing the lives of thousands of Texans. As with mental health, integration in general health settings – from primary care to emergency departments – has the best outcomes. Learn from leading experts in the field building multi-sector and multidisciplinary partnerships to revolutionize addiction treatment across Texas. Participants will better understand best practice principles to improve outcomes as well as strategies to build dynamic partnerships, leverage local resources, and set standards for community-based responses to substance use disorders.
