Prior to joining The Trauma and Grief Center at The Hackett Center, Donna worked at the Trauma and Grief Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital with her primary focus being the Santa Fe, TX community. In response to the school shooting that took the lives of ten people in 2018, Donna was a member of the coordinated response team and worked closely with the community and school to provide trauma and grief services to many of the people who were impacted.
Donna spent the first seven years of her career working as a clinical social worker at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her role at MD Anderson was to complete psychosocial assessments with patients and families to identify and eliminate barriers to care, and to provide support to help patients and family members adjust to their cancer diagnosis.
Donna completed her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston.
