Jackie Garza

Clinical Implementation Specialist, Trauma and Grief Center at The Hackett Center for Mental Health

Jackie is a bilingual licensed clinical social worker with eleven years of clinical experience with children and adults in psychiatric, medical, and school settings. She has received specialized training in evidence-based assessments and treatments for trauma and grief. For seven years, Jackie provided psychosocial care to breast cancer patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center including therapeutic care to children experiencing anticipatory grief due to a parent’s illness.

Additionally, she was the co-facilitator of the Circle of Hope/Life After Loss Bereavement Group for family members who lost a loved one to cancer. Jackie joined the Trauma and Grief Center at Texas Children’s Hospital in 2018, and delivered therapeutic trauma- and bereavement-informed care to adolescents and adults in Santa Fe, TX impacted by the school shooting in May 2018. Jackie completed both her bachelor’s degree in history and Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin.
