Lauren Roth, MS, is based in Dallas and is a Senior Project Manager working within the Adult Policy team. Lauren provides project management on initiatives aimed at improving the mental health care system for adults, including the intersection where the criminal justice and mental health care system meet. Since Lauren began working at MMHPI in 2017, Lauren has worked on several system assessment, evaluation, and implementation projects. Examples of her work include the Caruth Smart Justice Project, a Dallas-based project funded by the W.W. Caruth Foundation. The project focuses on the diversion of people with mental illnesses from the criminal justice system into evidence-based treatment. She also worked on the San Antonio Area State Hospital Redesign project, a stakeholder engagement and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analysis report delivered to the San Antonio State Hospital Redesign Executive Committee. She works closely with her Adult Policy and Smart Justice team colleagues at MMHPI to assure each projects’ success.
Before joining the Institute, Ms. Roth served as the Regional Resources Evaluator at The Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, coordinating data collection efforts of several coalition partners across a 19-county service area surrounding the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex. Prior to her appointment at The Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, she conducted research within the Purdue University Psychology Department’s Intimate Partner Violence Lab. Lauren has also worked clinically in several mental health care settings, including a psychiatric inpatient hospital, psychiatric outpatient clinic, domestic violence shelter, community clinic, and currently within the private practice setting as an evening and weekend therapist at Upside Therapy. Ms. Roth has a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas, and graduated Phi Betta Kappa with her Bachelor of Science in Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. While at Purdue, she was a two-time Honorable Mention All-America, three-time U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier, and proud Team Captain as a member of the Purdue Women’s Swim Team.
