Monica Benavidez
Monica has over 15 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, with the majority of her experience being in higher education marketing and communications.
Early in her career, Monica worked for a community grant program that aimed to reduce youth substance use in Mathis, Texas via afterschool programming for at-risk youth and informational workshops and events for parents. During her time in this role, Monica grew to love working for a mission-based organization and has made that a focus of her career.
Prior to joining the Meadows Institute, Monica served as the Creative Services Manager for the College Relations Office at Del Mar College (DMC) in Corpus Christi, Texas. During her time at DMC, Monica spearheaded several major initiatives including the college’s first rebranding campaign in over 20 years, which also included renaming three campuses. Additionally, she served as project manager for the launch of the VikingGo app for students, as well as the new college website and marketing materials.
In her role at the Institute, Monica manages projects and assists the communications team with improving and streamlining procedures to better serve the expanding needs of the organization.
Monica graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a journalism degree. When she’s not at work, you can likely find her thrifting or working on her next DIY home decor project. She lives in Corpus Christi with her husband Daniel and their senior dog Pee Wee.
