Instructor and Strategic Advisor, Excellence in Policing and Public Safety Program, University of South Carolina School of Law

Maureen “Mo” McGough is the co-founder of the 30×30 Initiative, a national effort to improve the representation and experiences of women in law enforcement across the U.S. and Canada. She serves as an instructor and strategic advisor to the Excellence in Policing and Public Safety program at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she was the founding Executive Director. Mo is also a senior advisor to the Policing Project at NYU Law and the U.S. Department of Justice’s ICITAP program.

Previously, Mo spent over a decade in federal service with the U.S. Departments of Justice and State. She served as Senior Policy Advisor at the National Institute of Justice, counsel on terrorism prevention to the Deputy Attorney General, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in D.C., and coordinator for U.S. AIDS relief efforts in Rwanda.

Mo serves on the FBI’s Law Enforcement Education and Training Council and advisory boards for the University of Chicago’s Policing Leadership Academy and Women in Federal Law Enforcement. She is a recent Public Leadership Fellow with the Brookings Institution. An attorney, Mo earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and graduate certification in human rights law from Oxford University.
