We stand firmly in the belief that all decisions that affect the local systems must be informed by the local systems. Our work advances the health of the Panhandle by ensuring that local resources and high-quality programs are available to our families, friends, and neighbors.”

Driving Change

The Meadows Institute – Panhandle contributes to the long-term mental health and well-being of residents in the Panhandle by driving transformative change. Our strategic approach includes

  • Advancing the Panhandle to the forefront of innovation and opportunity in mental health and substance use treatment.
  • Working with our partners to implement cutting-edge practices and research that address the unique needs of the Panhandle through initiatives, programs, and policy.
  • Focusing on bringing in new funding resources and prioritizing exclusive opportunities for the region to improve access to care.

Our Impact & Partnerships

  • Improving the health and well-being of individuals across the Panhandle by supporting the implementation of the Collaborative Care Model, which makes access to treatment more convenient by combining mental health care with primary care.
  • Helping Panhandle residents receive high-quality care by providing training and technical assistance to mental health professionals through our partnership with Texas Panhandle Centers , the local mental health authority.
  • Addressing the health care workforce shortage by utilizing partnerships with the TTUHSC Department of Psychiatry and WTAMU College of Nursing and Health Sciences to build strategies to support community needs and increase the number of quality health care professionals.
  • Supporting our local veteran population through data analysis and key stakeholder feedback to better understand the current behavioral health landscape for Panhandle veterans and their families. Creating opportunities for specialized clinical training specific to the unique needs of this population.
  • Undertaking a robust analysis of Panhandle health data to provide a firm foundation for understanding current population characteristics and system usage and flow. With the insight this data provides, we will develop programmatic strategy, resource identification, potential policy focus areas, and exciting innovation opportunities.
