Amalia Parvis
Amalia (Ami) comes to the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute with nearly ten years of experience supporting human resources, faculty affairs, and administrative operations in higher education and academic health environments. Much of her career was spent at the University of Miami, where she supported both the Office of Faculty Affairs (Academy) and the School of Medicine, helping welcome new faculty and staff through onboarding coordination, HR systems support, and training facilitation. Prior to joining the Meadows Institute, Amalia served as a senior support assistant at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry, supporting day-to-day operations through scheduling, documentation, data tracking, and cross-team coordination. She has also held HR roles in academic medicine, including serving as Human Resources Manager within the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University.
In her Meadows Institute role, Amalia supports the work of the Vice President of Human Resources and the Senior Vice President of Operations by assisting with onboarding and offboarding coordination, employee support and staff-facing communications, benefits and employee resource support, asset and equipment tracking, and a variety of Meadows Institute-wide administrative and operational initiatives.
Amalia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Miami and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. She is based in Houston, Texas. Outside of work, she is an avid freediver and volunteers with the Refugee Assistance Alliance, supporting newcomers through community-based service and advocacy.
