Chris Fisher, PhD
Chris joined the Meadows Institute with previous experience in senior roles across New York City’s criminal justice system, such as Director of Research at the NYPD and Director of Analysis and Integrated Solutions in the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, and additional work at the Department of Probation, the Administration for Children’s Services, and the former Department of Juvenile Justice. Most recently, Chris served as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Attorney General at the Office of Justice Programs, where he provided strategic guidance on policing, violent crime, and police reform. He was also Chief Strategy Officer at the Seattle Police Department, where he was responsible for research and analytics, strategic communications, and intergovernmental affairs under three police chiefs.
In his Institute role, Chris supports the work of the Health and Public Safety team and contributes to projects across the institute. Chris is responsible for establishing, developing, and sustaining collaborative relationships with police and public safety agencies across the US to support their training, technical assistance, and consulting needs.
Chris holds a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Virginia. Chris lives just outside of DC with his husband, Fred, their son Aidan, and their highly energetic dog, Hamilton.
