Edna Henderson

Director of Youth and Family Mental Health

Edna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 10 years of experience working with diverse populations in nonprofit and education settings. Her focus throughout her work has been the well-being of students and their families.

Edna started her career working with a Chicago based nonprofit social enterprise assisting participants in reaching self-sufficiency through employment training and support. In 2015 she joined Teach for America and taught 7th grade English in West Dallas while also leading as grade level chair and girls JV soccer coach. She spent her summers working as a Summer School Coordinator and Manager. Upon observing the high needs of her students, Edna transitioned into the role of Social/Behavioral Counselor at the elementary school level, supporting students with their social emotional well-being through responsive services, guidance lessons, and systems support. Most recently, Edna was a Manager of Counseling Services, supporting Social/Behavioral Counselors on their campuses. Edna also has experience working at an in-patient psych unit and family private practice. In her role at the Meadows Institute, Edna serves as Assistant Director for School Mental Health. Working closely with the Center for Child and Family Wellness Team, Edna supports the development and implementation of the Center’s wide array of K-12 and higher education projects.

Originally from Illinois, Edna is an alum of Loyola University of Chicago and obtained a Master’s in Social Work with a specialization in school social work. She currently resides in Dallas with her husband and pup.
