Erin Smith
Erin is a technologist and pioneering social entrepreneur. In her role as Fellow for Transdisciplinary Innovation at the Meadows Institute, she focuses on developing innovative, systems-oriented solutions to the current mental health crisis that span technology, policy, and investment approaches.
Previously, as founder and CEO of FacePrint — an AI medical diagnostics company for neurodegenerative diseases — she invented a new approach to transform the way Parkinson’s disease is detected and monitored. She was a Thiel Fellow and her innovation has been recognized by the European Patent Office Young Inventor Award, Wired Health Startup of the Year, and Forbes 30 under 30. Erin also previously worked on funding, developing, and scaling scientific and societal moonshots at Schmidt Futures.
Erin has 50+ academic publications and has conducted research with Harvard Medical School, Stanford, and University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Erin studied computer science and neuroscience at Stanford University. Currently, she is also a Senior Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute and served as an American Association for the Advancement of Science IF/THEN Ambassador supported by Lyda Hill Philanthropies.
