Neena Saulsberry-Gates
Neena brings over 20 years of experience in education, counseling, and mental health to the Meadows Institute. With a deep expertise in social emotional learning, trauma-informed instruction, and restorative practices, Neena has a proven track record of driving positive change in schools.
Before joining the Institute, Neena served on several Executive Leadership Teams, where she collaborated with district leaders to reimagine and implement academic systems that promote positive campus culture, student well-being, and social emotional learning. She has achieved notable success by using data-driven approaches to develop innovative solutions to school-related mental health challenges.
In her Institute role, Neena works closely with the Education and Workforce Development Team to advance school mental health practices across Texas. She services as a subject matter expert and implementation support specialist, focusing on evidence-based school mental health programs and systems, with a special focus on reducing exclusionary discipline.
Neena holds a B.A. in Literary Studies and Education from The University of Texas at Dallas and a Master’s in Counseling from the University of North Texas at Dallas. A Certified School Counselor, Mindfulness instructor, and leadership coach, she is currently pursuing state licensure as a professional counselor to further expand her impact in education and mental health. She resides in Dallas with her daughter, Alexis Joy, and her Bengal cat, Vino.
