Walter Thomas “Four” Price
The Honorable Walter Thomas Price IV, known as “Four” since childhood, is a fourth generation Texan and former Texas State Representative from Amarillo, Texas. After completing seven terms representing House District 87 in the Texas House of Representatives, Price concluded his public service in January 2025. During his tenure in the Texas Legislature, Price represented eight Texas Panhandle counties. He served for four years on the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission, on 17 different committees (including six House Select Committees) and was appointed to chair or co-chair six of those committees including the House Appropriations Article 2 Subcommittee overseeing Health & Human Services, the Select Committee on Mental Health, the Select Committee on Opioids & Substance Abuse, the House standing Public Health Committee and the powerful House Calendars Committee.
In his leadership roles, Representative Price championed the passage of numerous policy initiatives and legislative items. He authored and passed many bills improving the delivery of healthcare (specifically including mental healthcare and rural healthcare), government efficiency, and water policy. Price also helped secure the appropriation for the Panhandle’s Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine as well as the new state mental health hospital currently being built in Amarillo, Texas. For his legislative work, Representative Price has been recognized by many diverse organizations, including being named to the Top Ten Best Legislator List by Texas Monthly magazine.
Representative Price has served the Texas Panhandle community both through his legislative service and through volunteering his time on the boards of multiple organizations, including Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, the Amarillo Area Bar Association, the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, and the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. degree in Finance and magna cum laude graduate of Saint Mary’s University School of Law with a J.D. degree, Price has been a licensed attorney for almost thirty years. He currently serves as Vice President and Trust Officer for Amarillo National Bank and primarily works in that institution’s central and south Texas markets. Before joining Amarillo National Bank in 2015, Price spent most of his professional career in private legal practice representing individuals, families and business owners with their personal trust, estate planning and related legal matters.
Price and his wife, Karen, now reside in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. They are the proud parents of four adult children and the very proud grandparents of three beautiful granddaughters.
