New program helps Utah children process trauma and grief before it follows them into adulthood

March 31, 2026 – The Meadows Institute was featured in local and national coverage of a partnership to strengthen care for children between Intermountain Health Primary Children’s Hospital in Utah and the Trauma and Grief Center.

Primary Children’s is the first hospital in the western United States to join the national TAG Network, a consortium of children’s hospitals dedicated to providing the highest level of trauma and grief care. The TAG Center serves as the training hub for the network, providing ongoing support, consultation, and technical assistance in evidence-based assessment and intervention. The initiative is made possible by the generous support of the New York Life Foundation.

“This partnership with Primary Children’s is more than just a program,” said Julie Kaplow, executive director of the TAG Center. “It’s a promise that no child in this region will have to face trauma or loss alone. I want to thank Primary Children’s for being an essential part of this work and helping us to build a network that we know will change lives for years to come.”
