COVID-19 Federal Appropriations Summary

By early May 2020, Congress passed four bills in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Substantial funds will flow to health care providers, either directly or through state/local governments. This white paper provides health care related highlights from each bill and information on funding distributed as of May 13, 2020.

Grantmakers should be mindful of these funds when making grants to providers, as well as mindful of the vagaries involved in the flow of federal funds, which generally take longer than expected to reach their intended recipients and often do not reach them at all.

In this white paper, Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute has provided a summary of federal funding opportunities for all providers as well as for key groups including

  • Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs),
  • Hospital Systems,
  • Local Mental Health Authorities (LMHAs), and
  • Telehealth Infrastructure.
