DALLAS – Nov. 18, 2024 – Andy Keller, the president and CEO of the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, released this statement applauding Lt. Governor Dan
Patrick’s announcement of the Dementia Prevention Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT) as a major legislative initiative for the Texas Senate:
“Lt. Governor Dan Patrick’s Dementia Prevention Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT) is a bold vision for treating, and ultimately curing, dementia and the neurological disorders it encompasses. Lt. Governor Patrick’s vision centers on a proven Texas model of bringing world-leading research and innovation to our state: CPRIT has shown to be the best way to not just find cures but build treatment capacity to care for Texans and catalyze innovators to bring cures to Texans sooner. Upon passage, the state that put a man on the moon and is leading the charge against cancer will hold the incredible potential to prevent, treat, and cure the neurological diseases that affect so many Texans, setting the stage for us to build a healthier tomorrow for every Texan, no matter the diseases that afflict them.”
