Supporting Children in the Aftermath of Tragedy
The recent tragedies in our country involving mass violence are hard for many of us to understand. It can be even more difficult to know how to explain these events to children. This webinar shares ways caregivers and educators can support children in the aftermath of a traumatic event, including mass violence. The training provides a brief overview of how to recognize signs of distress in children who have been exposed to trauma and/or grief. In addition, the discussion offers a brief opportunity to explore the “cost of caring” and strategies to promote resilience in caregivers, educators, and mental health professionals helping to support children.
